Compression latches
In addition to locking the enclosure with a tongue, cam latches with a compression function also allow the door or flap to be conveniently pulled against the sealing. This protects the enclosure even better against the ingress of dust and moisture. These compression latches are used wherever increased sealing and thus reliable protection of the inside of the enclosure is required, for example due to harsh environmental conditions.
What are compression latches made of and how do they work?
A compression latch consists of the following components:
· a housing
· an insert
· a bearing plate
· a base plate
· a nut
· a cam
Some of the compression locks in our range also include a cover or a handy handle that makes operation easier and can be secured with an additional lock if required.
The latch is screwed onto the flap, hatch or door to be secured from behind. When the compression latch is operated, the tongue rotates behind the door frame so that the opening can no longer be opened outwards, i.e. it is firmly tensioned. Depending on the model, this creates compression values of 4.5 to 6 mm, which ensure that the door is sealed.
Where can compression latches be used?
Compression latches are particularly common in commercial vehicles and industrial plants, where they are installed on switch cabinets, gas cabinets, trunk lids and other service openings. Due to their special design, they provide security against unauthorized access, as they can only be opened with special keys.
With our wide range of compression latches, we can react flexibly to your requirements and supply the right element for every door and flap size. Whether toggle operation, external hexagon, square, double-bit or triangular - our compression latches are available in various designs.
