Cellular rubber and sponge rubber

Sponge rubber, also known as cellular rubber, is a closed-cell elastomer that is indispensable in various industrial applications. It is known for its excellent elasticity and sealing properties, which is why it is used for sealing, soft bearings, insulating and insulating, among other things.

Properties of sponge rubber

Sponge rubber is characterized by its unique physical properties, which make it an ideal material for seals. The most important properties of sponge rubber include

·         Closed-cell structure: the cells of cellular rubber are not connected to each other, resulting in its waterproof and airtight properties.

·         Flexibility and elasticity: It is very flexible and can return to its original shape even after strong compression.

·         Good sealing properties: Due to its structure, cellular rubber offers excellent sealing performance, making it ideal for use in sealing applications.

·         Resistance: Depending on the material used (such as EPDM or CR), cell sponge rubber is resistant to environmental influences such as UV radiation, ozone, heat and certain chemicals.

·         Sound-absorbing and vibration-inhibiting properties: The cellular structure helps absorb sound and vibration, making cellular rubber a useful material in noise control and vibration dampening applications.

·         Thermal insulation: It also provides some thermal insulation, making it useful for applications where temperature control is important.

As well as being non-stretch, our products are self-adhesive, which simplifies installation and improves performance. Cell sponge rubber in the form of mats and strips offers a flexible solution for a wide range of applications. Thanks to its composition of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber) or CR (chloroprene rubber/neoprene), sponge rubber is highly resistant to weathering, ozone and UV radiation.

Areas of application for cellular rubber

Cellular rubber is used in a wide range of industries, from the automotive industry, where it is used for sealing and insulation, to electronics, where it is used to protect sensitive components. Cellular rubber mats and strips are often used in the construction industry to ensure efficient and durable seals. EPDM sponge rubber is particularly suitable for outdoor applications as it is extremely weather resistant. The self-adhesive variants of cell sponge rubber simplify installation and increase the efficiency of sealing applications.
